Sit for Shelter Pets
June 30, 2024
415,000 animals died in shelters across the United States in 2023.
More than 20% of those deaths occurred in Texas Shelters.
At One Tail at a Time – West Texas (OTAT-WTX), we’re committed to transforming our region’s high-kill, low-adoption shelters into places of hope for the pets housed there. Through pet advocacy, our foster-based rescue program, public education, and community spay-neuter support, our work reduces the number of pets euthanized in the Alpine, Marfa, Pecos, Presidio, Monahans and Terrell County Shelters.
Please join us in our first annual Sit for Shelter Pets, being held to raise awareness of the shelter crisis and collect donations to save more lives.
Our Sit for Pets will be held on Sunday, June 30th at 10AM CST at the Presidio County Courthouse in Marfa.
We’ll share stories of dogs we’ve loved and lost, celebrate the pups in our lives now, and dream together about the ones we have not yet reached. We will spend 10 minutes in reflection of the shelter pets who never found a place to call home. We will livestream our event through social media.
If you can’t make it in in-person, we invite you to sit with us by sharing your stories of why shelter animals matter to you! Send us a note (with pics!) to rescue@otatwtx.org
